Trekkers usually stay in guesthouses along the trekking route. These lodges and guesthouses are well maintained and estabilished on the Annapurna and Everst routes. In other areas accommodation is limited. Guesthouses range in terms of amenities, comfort and services available and are locally owned establishments. Most are basic but clean, comfortable and quiet. Guesthouses provide single beds with blankets and sheets and an attached bathroom. Water is generally heated by solar panels to conserve energy but this means hot showers in the mornings or on cloudy days might not be possible. You can request a bucket of hot water from the lodge staff. Heating and air conditioning is not available in guesthouses so you'll need to be prepred by bringing either warm or cool clothing depanding on the season. In Kathmandu and Pokhara there is a huge range of accommodation from 5 star luxury hotels to dorm style hostels and inns.
