Day 01: Basantapur to Chauki (2780m/9,120ft) 5.5 hours, the day before fly to Taplejung from Kathmandu or arrive by bus/car 24 hours

Day 02:
Chauki to Gupa Pokhari (2890m/9,481ft) 5 hours

Day 03:
Gupa Pokhari to Nesum (2000m/6,561ft) 6.5 hours

Day 04:
Nesum to Thumma (1200m/3,937ft) 5.5 hours

Day05:
Thumma to Chirwa (1190m/3,904ft) 7 hours

Day 06:
Chirwa to Sakathum (1640m/5,380ft) 6 hours

Day 07:
Sakathum to Amjilosa (2490m/8,169ft) 6 hours

Day08:
Amjilosa to Gyabla (2730m/8,956ft) 4 hours

Day 09:
Gyabla to Ghunsa (3410m/11,187ft) 7 hours

Rest and acclimatize in Ghunsa

Trip Notes


Fly to Taplejung from Kathmandu (1 hour) or go by bus (24 hours). Kanchenjunga is an exceptionally difficult and long trek in which you'll need to be completely self sufficient for long periods of time. You'll need additional porters and sherpas to carry your food and camp gear as well as to manage your camp sites.
