Mt KailasTrek
Mt Kailas, located in Tibet is by legend a holy Mountain. The birthplace of the God Shiva, Mt. Kailas is considered a pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists alike. The Kailas trek covers both Nepal and Tibet so you’ll need proper travel documents for both places. Starting in Nepal the Kailas trek takes you through the Karnali zone, through Humla, Nepal’s most remote district. Walking through Humla you cross the border into Tibet and then drive across the stark, high landscape of Tibet to approach the easily identifiable Mt. Kailas with its rectangular shape. You can also drive from Lhasa to Sher while stopping at Kailas, then walk to Simikot, the district headquarters of Humla. Kailas is a pilgrimage for Buddhists, Jain and Hindus. Joining the pilgrims in their spiritual journey is an amazingly awesome and humbling experience.
