Why Mogambo ?
Mogambo has roots that stem from a 2005 expedition to Annapurna Base Camp. I was climbing with two Aussie clients and braving a blizzard, we didn't know if we'd make it to Base Camp but when we did the words to embody victory came forth, Mogambo! I didn't know what Mogambo meant but it seemed like the most natural thing and represented our heroic feat. Later we found out that Mogambo means "passion". It's so fitting because that's how we feel about creating meaningful, educational, enjoyable travel experiences for you... passionate. We want to give you the kind of trip that will challenge you, teach you, inspire you and leave you curious to know more. We believe in approaches to tourism that don't harm local cultures or the natural environment. This movement is called socially and environmentally responsible tourism and grew from travellers who wished to learn more about the people and places they visit as well as have a positive impact on the lives of the locals.
We believe that tourism can have a positive influence on the lives of Tibetans and Nepalis as well as you. Therefore we practice these principles.
- Support human rights and fair labor practices, provide stable employment, training and opportunities to grow to those who work with us.
- Support the local economy, practice fair trade, patronize locally owned businesses and guesthouses and use locally manufactured products
- Educate our clients on how to respect and preserve the socio-cultural authenticity of the host community
- Be environmentally responsible and provide a minimum impact while in Nepal and Tibet in order to conserve natural heritage and biodiversity
- Influence policies and encourage all tour operators and tourists to participate in socially and environmentally responsible tourism
- Maintain a high level of satisfaction for our clients, provide a meaningful experience and raises awareness of sustainable tourism
We follow these guidelines to ensure that your time spent in Nepal and Tibet follows an ethical framework and benefits local people. We're thrilled you have an interest in Nepal and Tibet . Travelling with us will be an enriching and beneficial experience for both you and the people of Nepal and Tibet. We warmly welcome you.
Yours,
Kamal and Meredith Adhikari
